Aalok Shah brings a wealth of teaching and tutoring experience to Stellar College Match. Prior to joining Stellar College Match, Aalok spent several years working for one of the largest academic and test prep organizations in the US. In addition to teaching and tutoring, Aalok (Al for short) helped develop curricula, organized various schedules, and ran sales meetings for prospective clients. In various organizations, Aalok has recruited and trained tutors, as well as acted as a mentor to newly hired personnel.

Al’s expertise and success put him in very high demand throughout NJ, NY and Philadelphia. Consistently juggling over a dozen classroom schedules at any given moment- in addition to simultaneously managing dozens of tutoring students- has earned Al respect and admiration from students, parents, colleagues, and superiors alike. He has taught well over 600 students in a classroom setting (in person) and well over 800 students online (through virtual classrooms). He has privately tutored over 200 students.  Al is experienced in academic tutoring from grade school through college and offers some graduate level tutoring as well.

Al customizes all lessons based on the student’s abilities, goals, and time limitations. One on one tutoring allows for much more personal feedback than the traditional classroom setting which can contain upwards of twenty-five students. Al’s philosophy is that if you have the proper mindset, guidance, and practice, you can meet your goals.

Al works under the basic principle that the most important part of improving a grade or test score has much less to do with memorizing certain facts or (re)learning forgotten or obscure rules, equations, and formulas and much more to do with learning how to think systematically. If you approach every single problem (regardless of the subject) the same way, you can avoid confusion and get right to the heart of the matter. Once you learn how to learn, you never forget it. Learning to learn is a skill. One of the most important aspects of developing and mastering a skill (such as learning) is consistency and practice.

Al’s subject matter expertise in Standardized Tests include: NJ-ASK, SSAT, HSPA, PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, AP (Advanced Placement) Exams, IB (International Baccalaureate) exams, GED, GRE, MCAT, GMAT, Praxis, etc. His Academic subjects of expertise include: Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Literature, History, Social Studies, Computers and Networking, Computer Software, etc.

Al graduated Lehigh University with a B.A. in Neuroscience.
