Jeff Mayfield

Captain Mayfield has twenty-seven years of Law Enforcement background. He holds the rank of Captain in a Municipal Police Department, in the State of New Jersey. Jeff is currently the Operations Commander, overseeing the Uniformed Patrol Division. Although the majority of his career has been within the Patrol Division, Jeff has also been in-charge of the Detective Divisions; Communications Division; and Records Division. He has always been active in the development and implementation of training programs for his agency, as well as agencies throughout the region where he is employed.

Captain Mayfield has been a tactical team member for more than 21 years. In this capacity, he held various positions, including the position of Commander for 13 years. As Commander, Jeff was responsible for the successful outcome of hundreds of tactical missions and assignments ranging from Hostage Situations, Barricaded Persons, High-Risk Warrant Services, Target-Hardening for large-scale events involving up to 250,000 people and various dignitary protection assignments. In 2003, Jeff was requested by the Prosecutors Office, Chiefs of Police Association and Team Leaders from other County SWAT Teams to be the first Commander of the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT). This position required the development of myriad policies related to personnel and equipment selection, tactical standard operating procedures, etc.. In January 2005, after a lengthy selection and training process, MOCERT became operational and began responding to critical incidents throughout Monmouth County under Captain Mayfield’s Supervision and Leadership. By the completion of Jeff’s MOCERT career, the program drew personnel from over 20 Law Enforcement Agencies and had developed into a highly recognized Professional Tactical Team, with support elements inclusive of Tactical Dispatchers, Tactical Medics, Crisis Negotiation Team, and others.

Within his non-tactical officer capacity, Captain Mayfield has assisted various school districts with Crisis Response Policy development, as well as Training for Students and Staff. Training courses and policies developed and implement by Jeff include topics such as: Responding to Critical Incidents, Response to Active Shooters, Ethics in Law Enforcement, Terrorism Awareness, etc.. He is a Certified Instructor in Multiple Firearms Skills, the Use of Expandable Batons, Fixed Batons, Oleoresin Capsicum, Responding to Critical Incidents through the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Terrorism Awareness, the Use of Thermal Imagers, and others.

Captain Mayfield graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Masters of Administrative Science Degree. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University “School of Police Staff and Command.”
